Recommended Conversion method:
As of April 1, 2009, the MBOE has changed the method of
calculating continuing education from Social Work Units (SWUs) to Continuing
Education hours (CE). SWUs were based on a 50 minute training hour;
CEs are based on a 60 minute training hour. For relicensing purposes,
SWUs will be accepted if they are obtained prior to April 1, 2009. All
credits after that date will be calculated based on CE. If you renew
online, the conversion will be done for you.
For Continuing Education Hours (CEs):
60 minutes = 1
CE Hour
# SWUs X 500 -:- 60 = CE Hour
# SWUs -:- point 12 =CE Hour
1 Clock Hour = 1 CE Hour
For SWUs: # instructional minutes -:- 500 = SWU
# Contact Hours X .1 = SWU (based on 50 minute contact
hour)
# CEUs X 1.2 = SWUs

Courses from CSWE Accredited Schools of Social Work:
Graduate: must have grade of "B" or better, 1 Semester Hour = 5

for approval prior to
or during the course
