NO Conversion for CEUs

The Mississippi Board of Examiners for Social Workers & Marriage & Family Therapists does NOT accept CEUs for license renewal.  They will determine the number of allowable hours.  If you receive (d) a certificate with the credit issued in CEUs, you are responsible for contacting the provider who issued the certificate for verification of the number of allowable hours.

Recommended Conversion method:

As of April 1, 2009, the MBOE has changed the method of calculating continuing education from Social Work Units (SWUs) to Continuing Education hours (CE).  SWUs were based on a 50 minute training hour; CEs are based on a 60 minute training hour.  For relicensing purposes, SWUs will be accepted if they are obtained prior to April 1, 2009.  All credits after that date will be calculated based on CE.  If you renew online, the conversion will be done for you.

For Continuing Education Hours (CEs):

                                                               60 minutes = 1 CE Hour

     # SWUs X 500 -:- 60 = CE Hour

# SWUs -:-  .12 =CE Hour

1 Clock Hour = 1 CE Hour

For SWUs: # instructional minutes -:- 500 = SWU

# Contact Hours X .1 = SWU (based on 50 minute contact hour)
