2009 LEGISLATIVE AGENDA
NASW, MS CHAPTER
APPROVED BY BOARD OF DIRECTORS SEPTEMBER 6, 2008
- Maintain social work licensure with
current language in the law.
- Oppose changes in structure of MS Board of
Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage & Family Therapy that
would utilize that office and its funds to support other
behavioral health boards.
- Oppose cuts in services that threaten the
well being of at-risk-populations and support an increase in
State revenue to fully fund services to at-risk-populations:
DHS Children & Family and Aging, Health, Medicaid, Mental
Health, and K-12 education including expansion of school social
workers.
- Support and advocate for current funding
of decree settlement for DHS Division of Family and Children
Services.
- Support options of loan forgiveness and
educational stipends for social workers.
- Continue advocacy for increase in pay for
social workers.
